The Law of Awareness - You Must Know Yourself to Grow Yourself
There are three kinds of people when it comes to having direction in life:
1. People who don’t know what they like to do
2. People who know what they like to do but don’t do it
3. People who know what they would like to do and do it.
To find your passion and purpose, you must change your awareness and accept it.
Warren Bennis has developed three questions to move you closer:
- Do you know the difference between what you want and what you’re good at? To be successful, you need to be doing what you’re good at.
- Do you know what drives you and what gives you satisfaction? When what motivates you lines up with what satisfies you, it’s a powerful combination.
- Do you know what your values and priorities are, and what your organization’s values and priorities are? If you and your employer are working at cross- purposes, success will be difficult to achieve.
The big question is ‘How to find your passions and purpose’?
Below are ten questions to help you start working through that process. A more detailed description for each is on the book.
1. Do you like what you are doing?
2. What would you like to do?
3. Can you do what you like to do?
4. Do you know why you want to do what you like to do?
5. Do you know what to do so you can do what you want to do?
6. Do you know people who do what you’d like to do?
7. Should you do what you’d like to do with them?
8. Will you pay the price to do what you want to do?
9. When can you start doing what you’d like to do?
10. What will it be like when you get to do what you’d like to do?
That’s a lot of ‘Like and Want To Do’ but it’s necessary to find out your purpose.
There are two great days in a person’s life: the day you were born and the day you discover why.
