Chapter 3 – The Law of the Mirror
This is one of my most favorite laws:
You Must See Value in Yourself to Add Value to Yourself
Self Esteem is the single most significant key to a person’s behavior.
To build your Self Image you must:
- Guard Your Self-Talk
- Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
- Move Beyond Your Limiting Believes
- Add Value to Others
- Do The Right Thing, Even If It’s the Hard Thing
- Practice a Small Discipline Daily in a Specific Area of Your Life
- Celebrate Small Victories
- Embrace a Positive Vision for Your Life Based on What You Value
- Practice the One Word Strategy
- Take Responsibility for Your Life
To take a first step, make a list of all your best personal qualities. If you have positive self-esteem, then this will probably be easy for you. If you do not, it may be a struggle. If it is hard, take a few days or weeks to create a long list of about 100 good things about yourself. With this list in mind, decide on one word that best describes you – That will be your Focus.
Talk to yourself in favorable terms and talk your self down. You are more than enough.
If you want to feel valuable, add value to others. Do you volunteer? Do you mentor people? Do you give assistance to others less fortunate than yourself?
